Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has commended Nigeria’s security agencies for the arrest of top Ansaru terrorist leaders, describing it as a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism.

Obi said the operation showcased the professionalism and intelligence-driven efforts of the security forces, noting that it represents a crucial step in safeguarding lives and restoring peace.

He urged security agencies to sustain the momentum in tackling terrorism and banditry, while calling for stronger collaboration between government, security operatives, and local communities.

The arrested suspects are linked to Ansaru, an extremist group affiliated with al-Qaeda, notorious for worsening insecurity in parts of Nigeria. Their capture is expected to weaken terror networks and disrupt further attacks in the region.

Obi further encouraged authorities to enhance intelligence-sharing and maintain vigilance to forestall future militant threats.
