The Anambra State Police Command says it has intensified security operations to ensure peace and order before, during, and after Saturday’s bye-elections.
The polls will be held in Anambra South Senatorial District to elect a senator, and in Onitsha North 1 Constituency to fill a state House of Assembly seat.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga said massive deployment of personnel and assets had been made across identified flashpoints and sensitive areas to guarantee a hitch-free and credible exercise.
He added that AIG Godwin Eze, the Supervisory Officer for the election, has assured residents of adequate security and urged them to cooperate with security agencies, remain law-abiding, and exercise their civic rights without fear or intimidation.
