The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has demolished a notorious criminal hideout in Apo Resettlement, Abuja, as part of its ongoing campaign against crime-prone areas in the city.

The operation, carried out Thursday by the City Sanitation Taskforce, was led by Director of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, who described the site as a major contributor to insecurity in Apo and surrounding districts.

“This place has been identified as one of the notorious dark spots in the city, and we are here to clear the area to make it safe for residents,” Galadima said, noting that security reports linked the location to killings and other violent crimes.

Director of Security Services, Adamu Gwary; represented by Dr. Peter Olumuji said residents had long complained about criminal activities there, including armed robbery and drug trafficking.

He recalled a recent incident in which more than 50 armed robbers attempted to attack residents but were repelled by the swift intervention of the police and other security agencies.

The Apo demolition is the latest in a series of recent operations, following the clearance of illegal structures in Wuse Zone 3 on August 6, UTC on Monday, and “Cashew Garden” in Apo’s Cadastral Zone E27 on Tuesday.
