An Islamic group, Concerned Muslim Brothers (CMB), has petitioned the Presidency and the League of Imams and Alfas over the alleged withholding of Osun State local government funds since February 2025.

In letters signed by its State Coordinator, Ustaz Jamiu Akorede Ajenisua, the group accused Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of deliberately blocking the allocations to punish the people.

Describing the action as “anti-Allah” and “anti-people,” the CMB said the funds were intended for primary school teachers, local government pensioners, community health services, traditional rulers, and other grassroots needs.

The group reported the matter to senior Islamic leaders, including the Chief Imams of Ado-Ekiti, Ilorin, Offa, and Osogbo; the Grand Mufti of Ilorin; MUSWEN; Sheikh Isa Akindele; Sheikh Daud Molaasan; and the Emir of Ilorin, urging them to intervene.

Quoting from the petition, the CMB said: “The role being played by Alhaji Oyetola and Hon. Fagbemi with respect to Osun local government funds is against the practice of a believer… denying people their entitlements is wickedness condemned by God.”

The group called on religious leaders to counsel the ministers to “fear Allah and do what is right,” warning that everyone will answer to God, and prayed for the health, long life, and continued service of these leaders to Islam and society.
