The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), through its Research, Technology, and Innovation (RTI), subsidiary, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), to advance technology-driven solutions in the oil and gas industry.

The agreement was formalised on Wednesday at PTDF’s headquarters in Abuja.

NNPC Ltd.’s Executive Vice President for Business Services, Sophia Mbakwe, said the collaboration reflects both organisations’ commitment to tackling industry challenges, delivering scalable solutions, and making a lasting impact.

She added that the partnership will promote local content, drive technology adoption, and nurture future energy professionals through research, skills development, and solution commercialisation.

PTDF’s Executive Secretary, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, described the MoU as a demonstration of mutual trust and shared objectives.

He said it would merge PTDF’s research facilities with NNPC RTI’s laboratories to jointly test, validate, and deploy advanced technologies in refinery catalyst production, biofuels, oil and gas drilling, and geological mapping.

The agreement outlines cooperation in joint research and development, technical support, data sharing, innovation hubs, local content promotion, and capacity building.

Both parties believe the initiative will strengthen Nigeria’s technological capacity and spur innovation across the oil and gas value chain.
