Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger recently released from Kirikiri Correctional Centre following an in-flight altercation with airline staff, is yet to decide whether to pursue legal action.
Her lawyer, Adefunke Maria, confirmed this on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
Maria criticised the conduct of the flight attendant, alleging that she blocked Emmanson from disembarking the Akwa Ibom-Lagos flight on Sunday.
She also condemned the airline staff for recording and circulating footage of the incident.
“She is a full-grown adult. If Comfort decides to press civil charges for compensation, she will let us know.
For now, she just needs to rest and put herself together,” Maria said.
The incident, which involved a scuffle with a flight attendant and security personnel, went viral. While some criticised Emmanson’s behaviour, others blamed the crew for obstructing her exit.
Additional footage showing her indecent exposure during the confrontation further sparked public debate.
Emmanson was arrested, arraigned, and remanded in prison, but on August 13, 2025, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo intervened, ordering the charges dropped and lifting her lifetime flying ban.
Despite her release, many on social media continue to urge Emmanson to seek legal redress against the airline.
