Aisha Yesufu, former co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls (BBOG), advocacy group, on Thursday accused President Bola Tinubu of rigging the 2023 presidential election to enjoy the perks of office rather than to govern effectively.
Yesufu’s comments came in response to criticism from former Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, who described Tinubu’s planned foreign trips to Japan and Brazil as “insensitive,” given Nigeria’s ongoing challenges.
Obi noted that the president had recently returned from Brazil.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Yesufu mocked Tinubu as an “Agba baller” and suggested that his focus in securing the presidency was personal gain rather than addressing national issues.
Tinubu, barring any changes, is scheduled to depart Nigeria for Japan and Brazil today.
