Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, pointing to their 22-year friendship and the President’s “bold economic and structural reforms” as the basis for his endorsement.
Speaking to journalists after meeting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, Soludo stressed that his backing was personal and not tied to political party lines.
“President Tinubu is my friend; he has been my friend for 22 years now and counting, so you don’t deny your friend,” he said.
The governor lauded Tinubu’s handling of the economy, describing him as “hale, hearty, and in high spirits,” and urged progressive political parties to form a broad coalition to deepen democracy and drive national development.
On security in Anambra, Soludo outlined a dual approach combining “kinetic and non-kinetic” measures.
He cited the passage of the state’s Homeland Security Law, which he said has curbed the influence of “deadly native doctors” encouraging criminal activity, and highlighted youth empowerment programmes aimed at creating “thousands of young millionaires” within three years.
He maintained that intelligence gathering, infrastructure development, and social investment remain central to tackling insecurity and reducing hardship in the state.
