The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Osun State has announced the relocation of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), centres and released the official timetable for the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting at the commission’s Osogbo headquarters, Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Mutiu Agboke explained that, due to the ongoing closure of local government secretariats, several CVR centres would be temporarily moved to alternative locations to ensure uninterrupted registration.
Dr. Agboke stated that the CVR exercise will begin on Monday, 18 August 2025, with online registration available via www.cvr.inecnigeria.org. In-person registration will follow on Monday, 25 August, at designated INEC offices.
He stressed that the service is free and cautioned registrants against offering payments to officials.
The timetable for the 2026 governorship election includes candidate primaries and dispute resolution from 24 November to 15 December 2025, submission of candidates’ particulars (EC9/EC9B), from 15 January to 9 February 2026, and election day on Saturday, 8 August 2026.
Dr. Agboke called on security agencies, the media, civil society organisations, and political parties to support INEC’s efforts, particularly in curbing vote-buying and political violence.
