The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has reported a sharp decline in national fuel consumption for June 2025, with total supply falling to 1.44 billion litres, marking a 16.42% drop from May’s 1.76 billion litres.
George Ene-Ita, NMDPRA’s Director of Public Affairs, said the daily average consumption stood at 48 million litres, correcting earlier figures.
The decline was most pronounced in automotive gasoline, which fell nearly 48%, while diesel supply saw a slight increase, but its distribution dropped by over 23%.
Household kerosene supply and distribution also fell by 13%.
Lagos State topped the list in consumption with 205.66 million litres, followed by Ogun, the FCT, and Oyo.
Ene-Ita assured that the NMDPRA is working with industry stakeholders to stabilize supply and distribution and address challenges affecting fuel consumption nationwide.
