Nasarawa State’s Accountant General, Musa Ahmed Mohammed, has denied claims that he is involved in early political campaigns for the 2027 governorship election.

His statement follows calls for his resignation by the Nasarawa State Transparency, Accountability and Good Governance Group, which cited alleged political activities.

Speaking to journalists in Lafia, Mohammed said he has not declared any intention to run for governor.

He reaffirmed his commitment to his current role under Governor Abdullahi Sule, stressing his focus on stabilizing the state’s finances.

While acknowledging his right as a citizen to seek elective office, he urged supporters to “wait until the time is right” and allow him to concentrate on official duties.

The civil society group, represented by spokesperson Lazarus Salaki, expressed concern over a “clear conflict of interest,” citing an April 2024 directive requiring political appointees with electoral ambitions to resign or await the official ban’s lifting.

Salaki emphasized that the Accountant General’s office demands neutrality and professionalism.
