The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the abduction of staff members from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
The victims were released by their abductors on Sunday after their family reportedly paid an undisclosed ransom. They were freed in the Ago Panu area of Owo Local Government.
Police revealed that the kidnappers first contacted the victim’s family on Wednesday, allowing the victim’s wife a brief phone conversation with him. A ransom demand followed on Thursday.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested the three suspects in a bush area while they were dividing the ransom money.
Police Public Relations Officer Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the arrests, stating that investigations have commenced and the recovered ransom has been handed over to the command’s anti-kidnapping unit.
