Afropop artist and social justice advocate Ayokanmi Eyanro, popularly known as Frequencie, has called on the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), to adopt modern technology and scalable mass transit systems to combat the rising wave of “one-chance” crimes; swift roadside robberies targeting commuters.

Speaking on Monday, Frequencie stressed the importance of installing CCTV cameras along major routes and enforcing digital registration of all vehicles to improve surveillance and facilitate rapid identification of offenders.

He noted that the absence of secure and organized public transportation leaves residents vulnerable to violent gangs operating in unregulated roadside areas.

He proposed that reliable and affordable public transit options would act as both a security deterrent and a lifesaver by reducing commuters’ reliance on informal and risky modes of transport.

Frequencie also praised Abuja PR, a civic-monitoring nonprofit, for raising awareness about the issue, and urged greater collaboration among government agencies, civil society groups, and residents to restore public safety.

Concluding his appeal, Frequencie recommended that commuters prioritize using vehicles from certified parks, while authorities should equip security forces with the necessary tools and infrastructure to shift from reactive to proactive urban transit safety measures.
