Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has condemned the viral video showing Ibom Air officials allegedly stripping passenger Comfort Emmanson during an altercation.
Emmanson was removed from an Ibom Air flight and later remanded in prison.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Njoku said she understood the airline’s right to offload a passenger if necessary but strongly opposed the alleged act of stripping Emmanson and sharing the footage online.
“I understand removing her from the plane, that’s not the issue. What I cannot understand is stripping her while doing so and then putting it all over the internet,” she wrote.
Njoku emphasized that airline and airport staff are trained professionals and said she refuses to believe that dehumanizing a woman and broadcasting it is part of their training, regardless of the passenger’s actions.
She added that Emmanson deserves compensation for the damage done to her dignity and life.
