Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has formally presented the All Progressives Congress (APC), flag to Rabiu Mukhtar Garki, officially endorsing him as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Garki/Babura Federal Constituency by-election.

The presentation took place at a public event in Babura, following a peaceful and democratic APC primary held at the Duplex Event Center.

Garki emerged as the flag bearer after securing all 110 votes cast by delegates representing the 22 wards of the constituency.

In his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude to Governor Namadi and APC leaders for their trust, pledging to focus on youth empowerment, job creation, and sustainable development if elected to the National Assembly.

The by-election, scheduled for August 16, 2025, was announced by INEC following the passing of the sitting member, Isa Dogon Yaro, in May 2024.

Opposition parties, including the NNPP, have also conducted primaries and selected their candidates, making this by-election a closely contested race.

Governor Namadi expressed confidence in Garki’s ability to advance the APC’s development agenda and urged party members to mobilize across all wards to ensure victory.

He described the flag presentation as a symbol of unity and collective responsibility, emphasizing that Garki is expected to continue the state government’s legacy of progress.
