The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), recently conducted a major clearance operation at the UTC Complex, targeting accumulated refuse and makeshift shanties described as a “dark spot” and a haven for criminal activities.
Led by the Director of Development Control, Tpl Mukhtar Galadima, taskforce teams began by clearing a dumpsite near the UTC Complex before moving to areas known for harboring criminal elements.
Galadima said the operation was mandated by the FCT Security Council as part of a wider initiative to improve city sanitation and security.
He assured that the cleanup is not a one-time effort, revealing plans to secure the cleared area with fencing to prevent future encroachments.
The zone, situated within the designated transit corridor under the Abuja Master Plan, will be protected to maintain urban planning standards and enhance safety.
