The murder of abducted entrepreneur Ifesinachi Onyekere, despite a paid ransom, has reignited concerns over insecurity in Anambra State and renewed scrutiny of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s handling of the crisis.

Onyekere, who owned a car stand at Nanka Junction, was kidnapped last week along the Nanka-Isuofia Road in Aguata Local Government Area, near the governor’s country home.

His body was later discovered in a bush after a ransom was reportedly paid.

The killing has deepened public fears in a state already grappling with violent crimes, including cult clashes, armed robbery, and targeted killings.

Critics say the incident underscores the failure of existing security measures.

Soludo’s administration had earlier launched community policing initiatives and deployed joint security task forces to tackle insecurity.

However, the latest killing has sparked calls for more decisive action to protect lives and restore public confidence.

Police authorities have yet to release an official statement on the case, while residents continue to demand justice and a stronger security presence in vulnerable areas.
