Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved the State Executive Council with immediate effect, retaining only select officials in strategic positions.

The announcement was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, directing all affected Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies.

Governor Oyebanji thanked the outgoing cabinet members for their contributions to the state’s development and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Those retained include the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Commissioner for Health and Human Services; Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security; Commissioner for Education; Commissioner for Works; and Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry, and Cooperatives.

The Special Advisers on Special Education and Social Inclusion, as well as on Lands, Survey, and e-GIS, also remain in office.

In addition, the Directors-General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, Sustainable Development Goals and Project Monitoring, and the Bureau of Public Procurement were unaffected.

Political observers view the shake-up as a strategic move ahead of upcoming political developments in the state.
