The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says its membership has surged past 800,000, marking a significant boost ahead of the 2027 general elections.
ADC Rivers spokesman, Luckyman Egila, disclosed the milestone at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, describing the party as “a beautiful bride” now attracting some of the state’s most influential political figures.
Among the new entrants are former governors Rotimi Amaechi and Celestine Omehia, both of whom have formally registered and received ADC membership cards.
Also joining the fold are Prince Uche Secondus, former National Chairman of the PDP; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Austin Okpara; and former Minister of Transport, Dr. Abiye Sekibo.
Egila stressed that the defections represent genuine shifts in political allegiance, not symbolic gestures.
He said the influx of seasoned politicians reflects growing confidence in the ADC’s vision and would help galvanize grassroots support to challenge entrenched political structures.
With its expanded ranks and high-profile backers, the Rivers ADC is positioning itself as a formidable force in the state’s evolving political landscape.
