A suspected member of a notorious “one-chance” gang has been killed, while six others were arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command during a coordinated operation.

Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Saturday, said the gang’s operational vehicle and several stolen items were also recovered.

According to Adeh, the incident unfolded on Wednesday when operatives on routine patrol along the Kubwa Expressway spotted a victim, later identified as Angel Patrick, being pushed out of a moving vehicle. The officers stopped to rescue her and rushed her to Zankwochi Hospital, Mabushi, for urgent treatment.

Another police team, comprising undercover officers, pursued the fleeing suspects to the Aso area of Mararaba, Nasarawa State. A hot chase and fierce gun battle ensued, leading to the arrest of the suspects Daniel Benson, Uche Thomas, and Tope Ola, all from Mpape, and Jude Simon from Mararaba.

Their operational vehicle, a dark grey Toyota Corolla, was recovered. One suspect was fatally shot during the exchange of fire and later confirmed dead at Asokoro General Hospital.

Police investigations revealed that one of the suspects, John Simon, had previously been arrested in December 2024 for the same offence, charged, and remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre.

Recovered exhibits included six ATM cards suspected to belong to past victims, a jackknife, ₦115,000 in cash, and other personal effects believed to have been stolen. The suspects confessed to being long-time “one-chance” operators in the FCT.
