Bright Osayi-Samuel marked his Birmingham City debut with a Man of the Match performance in their 1-1 home draw against Ipswich Town on Friday.

In the opening fixture of the Sky Bet Championship season at St Andrew’s, Jay Stansfield put the Blues ahead five minutes before the hour mark.

However, Ipswich salvaged a point in stoppage time through a George Hirst penalty after Lyndon Dykes handled the ball inside the box.

Osayi-Samuel, making his first competitive appearance for Birmingham, impressed with a standout display, creating one big chance, completing 100% of his long passes, and winning 80% of his ground duels.

The 27-year-old joined Birmingham on a free transfer last month after parting ways with Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahçe.

He previously featured in the Championship for Queens Park Rangers.
