The All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate in the November 8 Anambra governorship election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has declared that next weekend’s by-elections in the state will demonstrate his party’s dominance.

Speaking in Awka while receiving leaders of market unions who paid him a courtesy visit and endorsed his candidacy, Ukachukwu said the APC had already taken over Anambra and would use the Anambra South Senatorial and Onitsha North 1 State Constituency by-elections to prove it.

“We will use the August 16 by-elections to show Governor Soludo that Anambra is APC territory.

“I come from the same zone, and after the polls, we will know who is in charge.

“We will test our strength and make a statement ahead of the November 8 election,” he said.

Ukachukwu lamented the plight of traders in the state, accusing Governor Soludo of neglecting their welfare.

He pledged to prioritise traders if elected, promising to establish a loan fund for them with single-digit interest rates.

“As a governor, I will ensure traders can access affordable loans using the state’s name to secure funding, repayable within five years.

When traders grow, government revenue grows, and taxes will be fair and negotiated, not enforced through harassment,” he said.

He also vowed to appoint experienced professionals to key positions, insisting that the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce under his administration would be a trader.

“Grammar does not govern; experience does. I am a trader and proud of it,” Ukachukwu stated.
