9mobile has officially rebranded to T2, marking a major repositioning in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector.

The new identity was unveiled at a high-profile relaunch event in Lagos on Friday.

Obafemi Banigbe, CEO of T2, said the transformation was far more than a logo change.

“This is not just a brand unveiling,” he said. “It is the beginning of a whole new chapter in our history. We are becoming something greater, more ambitious, and more in tune with the future.”

Under its new identity, T2 aims to operate as a customer-focused, digitally agile platform, positioning itself as a digital lifestyle brand for startups, creatives, remote workers, and Nigeria’s growing tech-savvy population.

Built on cloud-native infrastructure and powered by data, APIs, AI, and analytics, the company says it will deliver faster, more personalised services.

The event was attended by Nigeria’s Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, who described the rebrand as a boost to the nation’s digital economy and urged T2 to sustain its innovative drive.

The move comes after key developments, including a national roaming agreement with MTN Nigeria, approved in July 2025, enabling T2 subscribers to access MTN’s extensive network to bridge coverage gaps and improve reliability.

With strategic investments, advanced partnerships, and a renewed focus on innovation, T2 is aiming to regain market relevance and drive sustainable growth in the highly competitive telecom industry.
