The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has restated his commitment to police reforms and improved welfare for officers.
Speaking in Kano during the commissioning of new police barracks and accommodation at Bompai and Zaria Road, the IGP said the project aims to boost officers’ living conditions and morale.
The facilities include over 300 modern residential units, a 48-office administrative complex, a standard armoury, transport workshop, POWA shops, worship centres, paved roads, and other infrastructure.
Egbetokun described the development as “a reaffirmation of a philosophy that places human dignity at the centre of national security,” stressing that no officer should “fight for a nation by day and sleep in indignity by night.”
He praised private sector partners for their role in delivering the project to standard and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The IGP said similar projects are ongoing nationwide as part of a blueprint for police transformation.
Kano Commissioner for Internal Security, AVM Ibrahim Umar (rtd), assured that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will continue to provide logistics and support to security agencies.
State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, highlighted recent security achievements, crediting the IGP’s guidance, and pledged that the Command will leverage the new facilities to improve welfare, administration, and operations.
