The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has come under criticism after its result-checking portal, waecdirect.org, went offline just two days after the release of the 2025 WASSCE results on Monday, August 4.

In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, August 6, the examination body confirmed the outage, attributing it to “unexpected system issues.” WAEC assured the public that its engineers are working to resolve the problem and restore access within 24 hours.

Thousands of candidates and parents have expressed frustration over login failures and inaccessible result pages.

With tension and anticipation running high, WAEC has apologized for the inconvenience and appealed for patience as technical work continues.
