The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has banned popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1, from accessing airport facilities across the country for six months.
The sanction follows an incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, where the artist allegedly disrupted boarding procedures for a Lagos-bound ValueJet flight on Monday, August 5, 2025.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs, confirmed the development during a press briefing on Thursday, citing findings from an investigation initiated by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
According to FAAN, the altercation occurred during boarding for ValueJet Flight VK 201.
Preliminary findings revealed that KWAM1 attempted to carry a flask containing liquid beyond the permissible limit through the boarding gate.
In a statement released on Wednesday by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, officials explained that aviation security personnel and the flight captain advised the musician to comply with international aviation safety regulations, which prohibit liquids exceeding 100 millilitres in hand luggage.
However, KWAM1 allegedly ignored repeated warnings and refused to surrender the item for inspection.
The situation escalated when he reportedly moved to the front section of the aircraft and declined to obey crew instructions to vacate the area, thereby disrupting the boarding process.
The ban takes immediate effect and will last for six months.
