Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu appointed Nyesom Wike as FCT Minister purely to advance political interests in the South-South.

Speaking during an interview on Tuesday night, Lamido described the appointment as a strategic move to help Tinubu gain political foothold in the region.

He cited growing influence in Akwa Ibom, Edo, and Wike’s dominance in Rivers as evidence of the strategy working.

“Tinubu was looking for someone to help him politically,” Lamido said, calling the engagement transactional.

He claimed Wike would be removed once Tinubu secures the region.

“When the South-South is in Tinubu’s basket, Wike will become irrelevant,” he stated.
