Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles lost 1-0 to defending champions Senegal in their CHAN 2025 opener on Tuesday at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
Despite dominating possession, Nigeria struggled to break through Senegal’s solid defense.
The breakthrough came in the 75th minute when Christian Gomis pounced on a defensive error to score the only goal.
Nigeria now sits bottom of Group D with no points and must beat Sudan on August 12 to stay in contention for a knockout spot.
