Police Hunt Kidnappers of Ondo Varsity Staff

The Ondo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers of two individuals in Supare Akoko, Akoko South-West LGA, following an abduction on Monday evening.

One of the victims, Omoniyi Eleyinmi, is a staff member of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. The second victim remains unidentified.

According to sources, Eleyinmi was abducted by armed men as he arrived home from work. His wife was initially taken but managed to escape.

A relative said no contact has been made by the kidnappers and the case has been reported to the police.

Police spokesperson, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, stating that one victim has been rescued, while efforts to free Eleyinmi are ongoing.

He noted that the victims were abducted while riding a motorcycle and that security operatives have been deployed for the rescue.

The university’s PRO, Victor Akinpelumi, also confirmed the incident and said the institution is cooperating with security agencies.
