A fatal accident occurred Tuesday along the Goodluck Jonathan Expressway near Villa Bridge, Abuja, claiming the life of 55-year-old Musa Shaibu from Idah, Kogi State.
According to Nkechi Isa, Head of Public Affairs at the FCT Emergency Management Department (FEMD), the incident happened when a Volkswagen bus operated by Quest Capital Company allegedly suffered brake failure and hit the pedestrian from behind.
The FEMD Search and Rescue Team rushed the victim to Asokoro General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
Shaibu was reportedly walking along the expressway at the time of the incident.
Though his immediate family lives in Kaduna, officials reached a cousin in Abuja using the deceased’s phone.
The driver has been arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.
