The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has condemned the conduct of Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, over a safety breach at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Monday, August 5, 2025.
FAAN stated that the incident occurred during boarding for ValueJet Flight VK 201 to Lagos when the musician attempted to board with an unidentified liquid substance, later identified as alcohol; an act in violation of aviation safety regulations. Despite repeated warnings from Aviation Security (AVSEC), personnel and the Flight Captain, K1 allegedly refused to comply.
Under global aviation guidelines, including Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP), and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Annex 17, passengers are prohibited from carrying liquids exceeding 100ml through airport security unless duly declared and medically justified.
Preliminary investigations revealed that when a security officer approached him for clarification, the musician not only refused to cooperate but allegedly poured the liquid on the officer.
The Flight Captain’s intervention reportedly met similar defiance. Once boarding was concluded, the Captain ordered the aircraft doors closed.
K1 De Ultimate then allegedly moved to the front of the aircraft and declined to vacate the area.
He was later escorted away by AVSEC’s crime unit for further questioning and subsequently released.
FAAN, in its statement, reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for acts that compromise the safety and integrity of airport operations, regardless of social standing. It added that the matter is under investigation and that anyone found culpable would face appropriate legal action.
The authority reassured the public of its firm commitment to upholding international aviation safety standards across all Nigerian airports.
