The Nigeria Police Force will honour officers who have demonstrated outstanding service and integrity with accelerated promotions approved by the Police Service Commission.

Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced this on Monday, stating that it reflects the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s commitment to reforms and motivation within the Force.

He said the move is a reward for officers whose conduct and character have stood out.

The Police had earlier promised to recommend promotions for any officer named Police Officer of the Year or who wins police award categories twice in two consecutive years.

Adejobi confirmed that names of eligible officers were submitted and approved.

Among those to be decorated are CSP Shaba Aliyu, Police Officer of the Year 2023, now promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police, and SP Sentome Obi, winner in 2024, promoted to Chief Superintendent of Police.

The decoration ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday August 5 at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The IGP has also arranged special recognition, including the use of a police jet and display of the officers’ portraits at headquarters and commands across the country.

Adejobi said the move aims to boost morale and prove that exceptional service is rewarded.

He urged officers to stay committed, assuring them that their professionalism and sacrifices are seen and valued.
