“This is a proud moment for Ondo State,” the governor said. “Tosin Demehin has brought honour to our state on the continental stage. In appreciation, we are awarding her ₦30 million and a house at Sunshine Estate, Oba-Ile.”

He praised the trio as worthy ambassadors of the state, particularly highlighting Demehin’s resilience, discipline, and commitment. All three honourees are from the southern senatorial district of the state.

Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s commitment to youth development and sports, pledging greater investment in grassroots talent and facilities.

He also promised enhanced support for Sunshine Stars Football Club to aid their return to the Nigerian top-flight league.

The governor commended President Bola Tinubu for honouring the Super Falcons at the national level, noting that such recognition boosts morale and encourages excellence.

In her response, Demehin, who hails from Ilaje Local Government Area and once played for Sunshine Queens, expressed gratitude to the governor and the people of Ondo State.

“Being recognised by my home state means everything to me. This honour inspires me and gives hope to many young girls with dreams like mine,” she said, urging stakeholders to invest more in women’s football in Nigeria.
