The Federal University Dutse (FUD) has alerted the public to a fake admission website used by fraudsters to extort money from unsuspecting applicants.
In a statement signed by its Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Abdullahi Yahaya Bello, the university warned prospective students against falling for scams claiming to offer admission through unofficial platforms.
Bello clarified that FUD does not engage third-party agents for admissions, adding that the process is strictly handled through the university’s official website and the JAMB CAPS portal.
Reports indicate that some candidates have received fraudulent emails and SMS messages asking them to pay ₦10,000 for admission via a fake site unlinked to the institution.
The university said no admission list has been released and urged applicants to ignore any message not published on its website or JAMB portal.
FUD further warned that those found dealing with fake agents will be disqualified, and noted that law enforcement authorities are already investigating the scam.
