The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) has approved the promotion of 30 senior officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to Assistant Controller General of Corrections.

This was announced in a statement on Tuesday by NCoS spokesperson Umar Abubakar, who said the move reflects the board’s commitment to merit, professionalism, and leadership development.

Of the 30 promoted, 27 are general duty officers recognized for their leadership in various formations, while three professionals were elevated for their service in medical laboratory science, nursing, and public health.

The promotion is part of ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, driven by Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

Controller General of Corrections Sylvester Nwakuche congratulated the officers and urged them to lead with vision and integrity.

“These promotions are a call to higher responsibility, aligned with global best practices,” he said, adding that the NCoS remains committed to building a disciplined and motivated workforce for modern correctional services.
