The FCT Police Command has arrested four people, including two sisters, for faking a kidnapping to extort N5 million from their father.

Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said Mr. Innocent of Jikwoyi Phase II reported that his 16-year-old daughter, Lead Way Innocent, went missing on July 18 after leaving for an exam at Government Secondary School, Karu.

He later received a ransom call demanding N5 million.

Acting on intelligence and digital tracking, police traced the number to a house in Jikwoyi Phase II.

Officers raided the location and found Lead Way relaxing with Mrs. Tina Mayowa, showing no signs of distress.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Lead Way’s elder sister, Joy Innocent, and her boyfriend, Mayowa Adedeji, who is married to Mrs. Tina.

Police said Joy and Mayowa conspired to stage the fake abduction, with Lead Way willingly participating.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, described the case as a “betrayal within the family” and urged parents to pay attention to their children’s emotional health.

All four suspects confessed and will be charged after investigations.
