A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Kaduna State, Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, has accused former governor Nasir El-Rufai of attempting to hijack the party’s structure.

At a press conference in Kaduna, Mustapha alleged that El-Rufai, who is not a registered member of ADC, is forging “subversive alliances” and engaging in “illegitimate political manoeuvres” to destabilise the party.

“Kaduna ADC will not be a tool in the hands of any individual, nor will we bow to interests that seek to undermine our collective vision,” he said.

According to him, El-Rufai is working with former Social Democratic Party (SDP) associates and other politicians to form a faction within the ADC and use it as his personal political platform ahead of future elections.

Mustapha warned that such moves threaten the unity and democratic values of the ADC.

He maintained that while the party welcomes all Nigerians who share its ideals, it “will not tolerate the destructive tendencies of the old parties that have stalled Nigeria’s progress”.

Reaffirming loyalty to the party’s new national chairman, Senator David Mark, Mustapha vowed the ADC would remain a progressive alternative to the ruling APC.

“We urge El-Rufai to respect our democratic principles and halt all disruptive actions,” he stated.

He reiterated the ADC’s commitment to building a just, democratic, and prosperous Nigeria.
