A three-storey building collapsed on Saturday evening in the Lifecamp area of Abuja, triggering a coordinated emergency response from rescue agencies and security operatives.
The incident, which occurred around 6:15 p.m. on August 2, led to swift action by the Divisional Police Officer of Lifecamp Division, who mobilized first responders and sealed off the area.
Agencies involved in the operation included the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), FCT Development Control, Julius Berger, Zeberced Construction, and other emergency teams.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, 27-year-old Aliyu Salisu, a citizen of Niger Republic, was rescued alive from the rubble at about 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, nearly ten hours after the collapse.
He was immediately taken to Cedar Crest Hospital, Gudu, where he is receiving treatment and is said to be in stable condition.
“In response to a distress call, the Command activated a full-scale rescue operation. At about 4:00 a.m. on 3rd August 2025, the lone victim was successfully pulled out and rushed to the hospital for urgent care,” the police statement read.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, who personally oversaw the operation, praised the professionalism and speed of all agencies involved.

Authorities are yet to disclose the cause of the building collapse, but an investigation is expected to follow.
