Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), Limited, resumed work on Monday amid swirling rumours of his resignation.
Ojulari reported to the office around 9:35 a.m. and has since been attending to his regular official duties, according to a senior security source.
An internal memo circulated within the NNPC directed staff to disregard social media reports claiming Ojulari had resigned.
The memo effectively quashed the speculation, affirming that he remains in office.
The rumour followed reports over the weekend that Ojulari was allegedly compelled to submit a resignation letter by senior national security and law enforcement officers on Friday night.
The action was reportedly influenced by Olatimbo Ayinde, a known associate of President Bola Tinubu.
However, sources suggest First Lady Remi Tinubu intervened, insisting that any resignation without the President’s approval would not be valid.
With Ojulari’s return to work, NNPC staff have been assured of continuity in leadership, and normal operations are expected to continue under his watch.
