Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday to a warm welcome, following their record-breaking victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The reigning champions made history by clinching their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title, becoming the first African team to achieve such a milestone.
Their dominant performance throughout the tournament culminated in a thrilling final, where they displayed remarkable skill, teamwork, and resilience.
Their return has sparked nationwide celebration, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expected to receive the team at the Presidential Villa in recognition of their achievement.
The visit will underscore the government’s appreciation of their dedication, hard work, and the pride they have brought to the nation.
