Troops of the Nigerian Army on Wednesday morning foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued a couple attacked by suspected bandits near Zuma Rock in Niger State.
The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. behind Zuma Rock, near Chachi Village in Tafa Local Government Area.
According to a report shared Thursday by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X (formerly Twitter), the soldiers responded swiftly after hearing gunshots in the area.
On arrival, they found a black 2008 Honda Accord with registration number KUR 395 AA abandoned in a ditch, riddled with bullet holes, especially on the front doors.
The troops engaged the attackers in a gunfight, successfully rescuing the vehicle’s occupants; Samson Audu of Bakusa in Dei-Dei, and his partner, Joy Bassy.
Audu sustained a gunshot wound to the right hand, while Bassy suffered a head injury.
Both victims were taken to Right Care Hospital in Dakwa and are reportedly responding well to treatment.
