The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is on high alert following a severe flood warning issued by the National Flood Early Warning System (FEWS), a unit of the Federal Ministry of Environment. Residents in Abuja and neighboring states have been urged to brace for possible flooding as heavy rainfall looms.

In a statement released Thursday, FEWS called for immediate preventive measures to protect lives and property amid rising water levels due to recent downpours.

The warning highlights several high-risk areas in the FCT, including Asokoro, Bwari, Gwagwalada, and Damagaza. Other affected communities include Garki 1 and 2, Guzape, Wuse 1 and 2, Gwarinpa, Nyanya, the Central Business District (CBD), and Kubwa.

Authorities are urging residents in these areas to remain alert, follow safety directives, and stay updated as the situation develops. Abuja City Journal will continue to monitor and report on updates from emergency agencies.
