Nigerian striker Victor Orakpo has joined French Ligue 2 side Montpellier on a season-long loan from OGC Nice, with a clear goal to help the club secure promotion to Ligue 1.
The 19-year-old forward expressed confidence in the team’s abilities and urged fans to trust the squad’s potential.
“My message to Montpellier is that they should believe in my teammates and me. We are going to give everything to gain promotion back to Ligue 1,” Orakpo said.
He described the loan spell as a key opportunity to showcase his talent and contribute significantly to the team’s success.
The former OGC Nice youth product also stated his personal ambition to deliver both goals and assists during the 2025/2026 campaign to support Montpellier’s promotion push.
