President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the next Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service. The appointment takes effect from August 14, 2025.

The announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday by Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), on behalf of the President.

Olumode’s appointment comes as the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji, prepares to retire on August 13, 2025, after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

According to the CDCFIB, Olumode brings extensive experience to the position, having risen through the ranks after transferring from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service to the Federal Fire Service. He most recently served as Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service’s headquarters.

“Throughout his career, the officer has successfully completed all required in-service and command training, along with additional courses both domestically and internationally,” the statement noted.

Olumode is also affiliated with several professional organizations. He is a member or fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.

The Board thanked the outgoing Controller-General for his outstanding service and leadership, commending his dedication and the various initiatives he introduced to advance the Federal Fire Service.
