Abdullahi Muhammad, a 7-year-old boy from Abuja, has been awarded a scholarship covering his education from primary school to university after being found alive eight months following his disappearance.
He was discovered in Aba, Abia State, by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on May 18. The NSCDC’s area commander for the Aba zone, ACC Vanger Scholastica, brought Abdullahi to the agency’s national headquarters in Abuja, where he was reunited with his mother, Hauwau Yakubu, last week.
The Ihsan Scholarship Foundation, a Kano-based charitable organization, offered Abdullahi the scholarship after reading about his story.
A member of the foundation contacted Hauwau through the reporter to inform her about the scholarship. Hauwau, who works at a restaurant in Abuja’s Dakwa community, expressed gratitude to the foundation for their kindness. Abdullahi’s father had passed away some years ago, and Hauwau appreciates the foundation’s support for her son’s education.
