President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by recent natural disasters in Adamawa and Niger states, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives and widespread destruction.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 28, 2025, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu sympathized with the communities impacted by the devastating flood in Yola, Adamawa State, and the fatal boat accident in Guni village, Niger State.
“I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the communities and families of victims affected by the flood disaster in Yola and the tragic boat accident in Niger State,” Tinubu said. He also praised the swift and courageous efforts of emergency responders at the forefront of rescue operations in both incidents.
The boat mishap in Niger State reportedly involved passengers traveling from Sachi village to the Yauri market when it capsized, resulting in the deaths of at least 13 individuals. Search and rescue efforts by authorities are still ongoing.
The President commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant agencies for their rapid response and called for stronger collaboration in tackling climate-related disasters across the country. He described flooding as a global challenge, largely driven by climate change, and urged communities to support government efforts aimed at improving infrastructure, environmental practices, and disaster response systems.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with state governments to develop long-term solutions that will mitigate future tragedies and protect vulnerable communities across Nigeria.
