First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Remi Tinubu, has hailed the Super Falcons for their dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over host nation Morocco to claim their record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
The Nigerian team, trailing by two goals at halftime, stunned fans with a second-half resurgence that secured a historic win and reinforced their dominance in African women’s football.
Describing them as the “Queens of African Football,” Tinubu praised the players for their resilience, spirit, and for lifting the pride of the nation.
“Your resounding 3-2 victory is not just another trophy; it is a testament to your hard work, consistency, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit,” she said in a statement. “On behalf of Nigerian women and the entire nation, I thank you for making us proud.”
She added that the Super Falcons had inspired millions of Nigerians and Africans, and that their names were now “written in gold.”
Nigeria’s latest WAFCON triumph cements their status as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
