The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched a dedicated panel aimed at addressing widespread irregularities observed in the sale of Federal Government houses across Abuja. This move signals a resolute commitment to restoring transparency and accountability within the housing allocation process.

Badaru Yakasai, Assistant Director of Information and Customer Service at the FCT Land Administration, disclosed that the panel will investigate various infractions. These include deviation from approval mandates, improper verification of beneficiaries, late payments, poor documentation, and weak coordination among relevant FCTA departments.

Chijioke Nwankwoeze, Director of Land Administration, explained that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike personally approved the formation of this crucial vetting panel. Additionally, Minister Wike has constituted another committee specifically tasked with the titling of designated park plots and managing allied land parcels, further streamlining land administration.

Inaugurating both committees in Abuja, Nwankwoeze emphasized that they have been given “clear directives, mandates, and terms of reference” to ensure swift completion of their assignments. He asserted that the vetting team’s work is designed to restore order, transparency, and accountability in line with the FCTA’s 2003–2005 monetization and sales policy.

Nwankwoeze also noted that this exercise would align the Department of Parks and Recreation with ongoing land reform policies, describing it as “a bold and irreversible step toward restoring sanity and public trust in the FCTA.”

He underscored the FCT Minister’s “political will” to drive these reforms to a logical conclusion, adding that these initiatives form an integral part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.
