The Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Bello (Sarkin Katsinan Gusau), has passed away at the age of 71 after a prolonged illness in Abuja.

Sources close to the palace confirmed Dr. Bello’s demise late today, Friday, July 25, 2025. He had reportedly fallen ill in recent weeks and was receiving medical treatment in the federal capital before his death.

The Emir, a highly respected traditional ruler in Zamfara State, had served in the role of Sarkin Katsinan Gusau for years. He was widely known for his significant contributions to community development and fostering peaceful coexistence within the region.

Officials from the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and various local media outlets circulated the news, describing his passing as a profound loss to the people of Gusau and the wider Zamfara community.
