President Bola Tinubu is set to commission the first phase of the Abuja City Walk in May 2026, marking his third year in office, according to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Wike disclosed this on Wednesday in Abuja during the signing of an agreement with MAG International Links Limited for the landmark project, inspired by Dubai’s City Walk.
He described it as the flagship development of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The mixed-use urban centre will cover over 200 hectares in the Abuja Technology Village along Airport Road.
It will house residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, medical, and institutional facilities.
“We are not giving out land for speculation,” Wike warned. “This is a partnership based on results, not empty promises.”
He directed that foundation work must begin by August 2025, insisting only serious investors with clear timelines would be entertained.
“We’ve seen what you’ve done in Dubai. Now we want to see bulldozers and concrete, not excuses,” Wike said, noting that he would personally chair the project monitoring committee to prevent bureaucratic delays.
MAG International’s Executive Director, Dr. Kassim Gidado, hailed the project as a symbol of public-private synergy, adding that investors from the UAE and other countries have already committed.
“This will be our Canary Wharf. City Walk Abuja will transform not just the skyline, but the narrative of this city,” Gidado said.
